Red Velvet Crackle Cookies
Also from Sunday Parade magazine article on holiday cookies. Putting the recipe in the blog first, then trying it. I figure typing it up will make me read it more carefully. Postscript: They came out great. Like better than the … Continue reading
Nutmeg-Maple Cream Pie
From the New York Times. Doesn’t include pie crust recipe. Would it be really bad of me to just buy a pie crust? “This pie is a delicious twist on a custard standby, and it is exceedingly easy, a humble … Continue reading
Holiday Stout Cookies
From Elysian Brewery, Seattle. There link is here: http://www.elysianbrewing.com/holiday-stout-cookies/ But in case they take it down later, here’s the recipe. Looks good. Sort of reminds me of Whoopie Pies made with stout!

This recipe came out rather goopy. I kept the whoopie pies in the frig so that the filling didn’t spill out.
Lemon Whoopie
Made a delicious cake. Filled with Blueberry Cream filling, which is just the normal filling with two or three tablespoons of blueberry syrup added. Of course, hand mixer worked fine on these.
Stained Glass Cookies
My roommate’s mom cut this out of a Bloomington-Normal IL paper (maybe the Pantagraph?) and sent it to him to try. I came home from errands today to find him midway through the recipe. He thought it was too … Continue reading
Chocolate Buttercream
Posting this to show what I made. This might make a good frosting for a cake but didn’t much like as whoopie pie filling. Too dense and grainy.
Red Velvet Whoopie
I would definitely follow the recommendation at the end to use less cocoa. I used the recipe’s amount and found it too dense. I don’t have a stand mixer; hand mixer worked fine.
Strawberry Buttercream Filling
I couldn’t find the freeze-dried strawberries this recipe calls for so I bought frozen strawberries and skipped the milk. Still made it quite runny when not in the frig. Filling used with Red Velvet Whoopie Pies. Very tasted and we … Continue reading
